Our team of interpreters is specialised in a range of fields and can guarantee high quality service and reliability and meet all interpreting requirements.

We can provide simultaneous translation services, including interpreting booths and sound equipment, throughout Italy.

Our team of highly qualified interpreters, each chosen according to individual skills and expertise, offers a translation service covering more than 70 languages.

During the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns we set up an online interpreting service, which has since seen great demand from our clients.

1.
Simultaneous Interpreting

Simultaneous interpretation services are carried out during international events by professional interpreters in soundproof booths; the speaker’s talk is rendered immediately comprehensible for the members of the audience who do not understand the language of the speaker.

2.
Consecutive interpreting

This is ideal for short or impromptu speeches. The speaker and interpreter alternate in delivering sections of the speech in the speaker’s native language followed by the language of the audience. This solution considerably prolongs the duration of the event.

3.
Assistance to negotiations

This type of interpreting is used during B2B meetings, company visits and trade fairs. The interpreter translates for each party during negotiations, having prepared the specific technical language for the sector in order to provide an optimal service and make the negotiations more effective.

4.
Chuchotage - “Whispered” Interpreting

In this case, the translation is “whispered” to the guest and is ideal for when there are very few overseas participants and the speech is short. The interpreter sits next to the foreign participants and simultaneously whispers what the speakers are saying.

EQUIPMENT RENTAL SERVICES

Our interpreting services include the provision of simultaneous translation equipment for on site events and also online interpreting systems, which proved to be indispensable during lockdown, so that we can offer our clients “turnkey” solutions.

Our complete service, including the rental of all necessary equipment for simultaneous translation and technical assistance during the event, is available throughout Italy.

Digital system for simultaneous translation using soundproofed booths to ISO standard and receivers.

Portable Bidule interpreting system for small numbers of participants or for “on-the-go” interpreting.
The service can be provided anywhere in Italy.

Remote online interpreting is a simultaneous translation service whereby interpreters, speaker and audience in different places are connected via a platform that allows the interpreters to simultaneously translate the words of the speaker. Listeners can select and listen to the translation into their language from their device, via a specific app or website.
Our remote interpreting service guarantees the same professional quality as in-person interpreting and enables the client to achieve optimum results in the organisation and management of the event.

Interview a Nahid Nayyeri

Nahid Nayyeri è la CEO di Ara Congressi, opera con passione e rigore nel settore degli eventi, dal 1986, poi nel 1991 decide di fondare Ara Congressi.

D. Chi è Nahid Nayyeri?
R. Se mi dovessi descrivere direi che sono fondamentalmente una persona curiosa. Anche nel mio la lavoro la curiosità ha un ruolo rilevante, mi permette di ricercare nuove e differenti modalità per renderlo sempre unico.
Sono una cittadina del mondo e forse questo deriva sia dalle mie origini, papà persiano e mamma di origine italo-svizzera, sia dalla possibilità di aver vissuto da ragazzina all’estero. Ho fatto tesoro e messo in pratica tutto ciò che ho visto ed ho imparato.

D. Come ti sei approcciata al mondo degli eventi?
R. Questa è una domanda che spesso mi viene posta quando mi capita di raccontare la mia esperienza lavorativa a qualche convegno ed io rispondo sempre nel solito modo, anche perché è la verità… è cominciato tutto davanti a una tazza di tè. Mi spiego meglio, ero con altre 2 amiche, appunto davanti ad una tazza di tè, quando una di noi propose, vista l’amicizia che ci legava, di lavorare assieme. Ognuna di noi aveva la sua esperienza personale che ruotava nell’ambito degli eventi, seppur con mansioni differenti, per cui niente di più naturale che fondare una società di organizzazione di congressi ed eventi.
Buffo pensare come un progetto, nato quasi per scherzo, sia diventato parte fondamentale della mia vita.

D. Come ha avuto inizio l’idea di Ara Congressi, come e quando nasce l’azienda?
R. Nel 1990 una mia amica decide di cambiare lavoro e l’altra si trasferisce a Milano, io invece decido di continuare a lavorare nel mondo dell’organizzazione congressuale, di continuare da sola e non lo nascondo, inizialmente con una certa apprensione… Nasce quindi ARA Congressi: ci ho creduto… ed ho avuto ragione!

D. Da cosa nasce il nome Ara, che significato ha?
R. Qui devo nuovamente tornare a parlare di mio padre. Mio padre era venuto in Italia per frequentare l’Accademia Navale dove è diventato ufficiale; come tutti i marinai era affascinato dalle stelle e spesso, quand’eravamo in barca, me le mostrava. Quindi, dovendo scegliere un nome per la mia agenzia, mi è venuto naturale scegliere quello di una costellazione. Volevo un nome breve, di facile comprensione e tra le prime lettere dell’alfabeto: ecco quindi la scelta della costellazione Altare, ARA in latino, una piccola costellazione dell’emisfero sud.

D. A chi si ti sei ispirata e magari ti ispiri ancora adesso?
R. Mi sono sempre ispirata alle donne che lavorano, a quelle donne che combattono giorno dopo giorno per affermarsi e per dimostrare di valere, anche con fatica e caparbietà.
A chi mi ispiro oggi? A chiunque mi suggerisca un’idea, un piccolo particolare, una frase che mi permetta di migliorarmi e migliorare il mio operato.

D. Come ti senti ad aver lavorato per personaggi e realtà di spicco a livello nazionale ed internazionale? Mi viene in mente l’organizzazione della visita del Presidente Carlo Azelio Ciampi all’evento di Massa, oppure il servizio di interpretariato all’evento dell’ONU di Torino…
R. Lavorare all’organizzazione della visita del Presidente della Repubblica Ciampi è stata un’emozione grandissima; è risultato impegnativo sia dal punto di vista organizzativo, il protocollo deve essere impeccabile, sia dal punto di vista emozionale… senza ombra di dubbio l’evento più suggestivo organizzato in tanti anni!
Diverso invece il servizio di interpretariato svolto per il Forum Mondiale dell’Onu a Torino, dove 36 nostre interpreti hanno tradotto per 2500 partecipanti i vari incontri, una macchina organizzativa che non permetteva il minimo errore, dato che spesso gli interpreti dovevano spostarsi da una sala all’altra.
Anche l’organizzazione di congressi internazionali riserva il privilegio di lavorare per personalità di rilievo, come la lectio magistralis tenuta dal Professore D. Teece, presso la Scuola Superiore S.Anna, oppure il convegno ESPO 2019 organizzato per ESPO (European Sea Ports Organisation) di Bruxelles o quelli organizzati per l’Università di Pisa, come ad esempio ESEE 2022.
Sono molto orgogliosa di aver lavorato per personalità di così alto rilievo e di aver contribuito alla riuscita degli eventi menzionati.

D. Il momento migliore, l’evento migliore della carriera in Ara Congressi?
R. L’evento migliore è quello che deve ancora arrivare!

D. Quello peggiore?
R. Esistono brutti eventi?!? Non li ricordo!

D. Qual è l’aspetto che più ti piace del tuo lavoro?
R. Sicuramente il contatto con le persone, ma questa è solo una parte…l’altra parte che amo è l’aspetto organizzativo. È quello che fa sì che ogni piccolo particolare funzioni, che ogni ingranaggio trovi la sua giusta collocazione, che tutto fili talmente liscio che le persone dall’esterno dicono: “Ma che cosa ci vuole ad organizzare un evento?”. Ecco, quando qualcuno dall’esterno ti dice che non gli sembra così complicata l’organizzazione, vuol dire che hai lavorato bene… e vuol dire che l’organizzazione dell’evento era perfetta!

D. E quello meno?
R. La parte più noiosa non riguarda il settore congressuale, ma quello della revisione di alcune traduzioni come per esempio i bilanci! Bisogna porre un’attenzione a dir poco maniacale… Con tutti quei numeri!

D. Che consiglio daresti ai giovani che si apprestano ad intraprendere questo percorso?
R. Consiglierei innanzi tutto di credere in loro stessi e di mettere a frutto le loro capacità e doti naturali, oltre ad avvalersi di una buona educazione. Organizzare un evento è un po’ come quando si invitano le persone a casa propria… si cerca di farle stare al meglio e di prevenire i loro desideri in modo che abbiano un ottimo ricordo dell’invito.

D. Progetti per il futuro? Sogni nel cassetto?
R. Organizzare ancora tanti, tanti eventi… Sogni nel cassetto? Tantissimi… troppi per essere descritti in poche parole.

Interview with Nahid Nayyeri

CEO, Nahid Nayyeri, has been working in the events industry since 1986 and founded Ara Congressi in 1991.

Q: Who is Nahid Nayyeri?
A.If I had to describe myself, I’d say I’m basically a curious person. Curiosity and the quest for new ways play an important role in my work too.
I’m a citizen of the world and perhaps this derives from my origins, my father was Persian and my mother was of Italian-Swiss origin, and also from living overseas as a young girl. I’ve taken advantage of and put into practice everything I’ve seen and learned.

Q. How did you start working in events?
A. I’m often asked this when I talk about my work experience at conferences and I always answer in the same way, because it’s the truth… it all started over a cup of tea. I was having tea with 2 friends, when one suggested that it would be a great idea to work together. Each of us had our own experience of different aspects of the events sector, so it seemed natural to pool our know-how and set up a company for organising conferences and events.
It’s strange to think that something that came about in such a light-hearted way should’ve become such an important part of my life.

Q. Tell us about the origins of Ara Congressi.
A. R: In 1990, one friend decided to change jobs and the other moved to Milan so I decided to continue on my own. I can’t deny that I was initially quite apprehensive but I believed in what I was doing and I set up ARA Congressi. I’ve never looked back!

Q. Where does the name Ara come from, what does it mean?
A. Here, I have to mention my father again. My father came to Italy to attend the Naval Academy, where he became an officer. Like all sailors, he was fascinated by the stars and he would often point them out to me when we were out sailing. So, the name of a constellation was the natural choice when I was choosing a name for my agency. I wanted something short, easy to understand and at the beginning of the alphabet: hence the choice of the constellation Altare, ARA in Latin, a small constellation visible in the southern hemisphere.

Q. Who inspired you and maybe still inspires you now?
A. I’ve always been inspired by women, by those stubborn, hard-working women who fight day after day to assert themselves and prove their worth.
Q Who inspires me today? Anyone who puts forward an idea or a tiny detail or a phrase that inspires me to improve myself and my work.

Q. How do you feel about working for prominent figures and entities at a national and international level? The organisation of President Carlo Azelio Ciampi’s visit to the event in Massa comes to mind, or the interpreting service at the UN event in Turin…
A. Working on the organisation of the visit of the President of the Republic Ciampi was very exciting; it was challenging both from an organisational point of view, the protocol had to be faultless, and from an emotional point of view… without a shadow of a doubt the most fascinating event I’ve organised in many years!
The interpreting service carried out for the UN World Forum in Turin was different. 36 of our interpreters translated the various meetings for 2,500 participants, an organisational machine that did not allow for the slightest error, given that the interpreters often had to move from one room to the other.
When organising international conferences, it has been a privilege to work for leading experts, such as Professor D. Teece, when he gave his keynote address at the Scuola Superiore S.Anna, or as part of the organisation of the 2019 ESPO conference for the Brussels-based European Sea Ports Organisation and those organised for the University of Pisa, such as International Conference of the European Society for Ecological Economics (ESEE 2022)
I am very proud to have worked for such high-profile personalities and to have contributed to the success of events such as these.

Q. Can you describe the best event of your career at Ara Congressi?
A. The best event is the one that is yet to come!

Q. The worst?
A. Have there ever been bad events?!? Not that I can recall!

Q. What aspect you like the most about your job?
A. Contact with people, but that’s only one part… I also love the organisational aspect. It’s what makes every little detail work and everything slip into the right gear and the event runs so smoothly that onlookers say: “Organising an event looks easy, anyone could do it!” When someone tells you that organising an event doesn’t seem that complicated that means you’ve done a good job… and that the organisation of the event has been perfect!

Q. And what do you least like?
A. The most boring part doesn’t involve the conference industry. Reviewing translations, such as financial statements, calls for an obsessive attention to detail to say the least… With all those numbers!

Q. What advice would you give to young people who are preparing to embark on this career?
A. I recommend they believe in themselves and make use of their natural abilities and talents, as well as availing themselves of a good education. Organising an event is a bit like when you invite people to your home… you try to make them feel welcome and anticipate their wishes so that their recollections of the event are positive and uplifting.

Q. Plans for the future? Do you have any secret wishes?
A. Organise many, many more events… My dreams? Too many to put into just a few words.
